From 1933-34, Sanzo Wada dropped a jaw-dropping collection of color combinations that stunned Japan. Re-printed in 2010, A Dictionary of Color Combinations earned a standing ovation from Die Zeit who called it "a source of inspiration with hues we didn’t know could exist!"
Now, Vol. 2 brings back two more works by Wada from 1935-36 and 1938, with 72 colors themed on the Japanese seasons, 165 drawn from 20th-century fashion, interior and graphic design - making it an indispensable reference for anyone creating something of their own. The book includes colour names in Japanese & English and 172 removable colour chips.
A leader in colour research, Wada also had a career as an artist, fashion designer and art director, earning a Best Costume Design Oscar in '54 for Gate of Hell and a Person of Cultural Merit by Japan in '58.
