Why We Love... Analogue Adventures

Why We Love... Analogue Adventures

We love getting out and about for the day - getting the kids away from digital temptations and into the natural world - especially this time of year when we don't need full wet weather gear (or at least, not as often!)

Whether your adventures take you to the other side of the world or the other side of the park it's great to make time to explore new places and revisit old favourites too.

For us, analogue adventures is spending time together in the great outdoors, following the South Downs Way, throwing pebbles into the sea; enjoying the physical world around us.

Oh, and a picnic with lots of snacks!

What we bring

When we're heading off for a Sunday adventure (the day of the week we shut shop) there are some things that always come with us.

Traveler's Notebook
We take our Traveler's Notebooks pretty much everywhere. When we're out and about Abel mostly journals in his and I sketch in mine. It's also great for jotting down ideas that have a habit of popping into my head when we're half way up the Downs!

Pencil Case
A companion to any notebook, in ours you'll usually find several pencils, our favourite brass sharpeners, some coloured fineliners and at least one fountain pen for starters.

Film camera
It probably won't surprise you that we love film cameras. We don't get to play with them as much as we'd like to so it's always nice to bring ours along on one of our adventures to capture and remember the day.

Packed Lunch
We can't go anywhere with the kids without many and varied snacks. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's the main reason they come.

Backpack
We both love our ROKA bags and they are great for a day out. The 'Finchley' style is fab for exploring as the pockets on each side are perfect for water bottles and they hold their shape when full, making them comfortable to wear too.

If you love memory keeping - collect tickets, maps and leaflets from your days out to make a collage page or to decorate a journal entry for the day.

Where we go

We're super lucky to have beautiful countryside and coastline on our doorstep. If you're heading down to Sussex here's two of our favourite places to explore.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

Seven Sisters Country Park

We'd love to know your favourite places to explore. Send us a pic on instagram @allthingsanalogue or pop a comment below to share your favourite places with us!
